About This Job

Commercial Metals Company is currently seeking a Scale Operator to perform operating sequences to receive and exit vehicles through incoming and outgoing scales.  This is a full-time position, normal business hours are Monday-Friday 8:00AM – 5:00PM and is located in N. Austin. Production hours may extend before and after normal business hours. Overtime can be expected to accommodate business needs.

What You'll Do
  • Identifies & weighs in-bound and out-bound metal shipments; provides quality customer service, and ensures customer specifications and contract requirements are fulfilled
  • Accurate identification of material to assign correct value
  • Assesses weigh materials, inbound & outbound, and directs into the appropriate process area, as well as prices tickets
  • Participates in the CMC Safety Programs and proactively upholds the CMC Safety Culture
  • Any other tasks as assigned by supervisor
What You'll Need
  • Experience with metal sorting a plus but not required; to include the ability to distinguish between different metals and/or other materials for grading purposes and recognizing safety hazards
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Must be able to frequently lift 25 lbs or more to include carrying or pushing objects up to 100ft
  • Must be able to perform the physical task of the job assigned; to include climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, and crouching
  • Must be able to stand for significant lengths of time in an industrial environment with exposure to all elements of weather
Your Education
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience preferred
