What You'll Do

  • Oversee the operations of the truck scales; daily use as well as certifications, maintenance, and repairs, this includes the radiation detectors and cameras.
  • Oversee the Scale Operator’s completion of good receipts, shipments both inbound and outbound. Load inspections and troubleshooting errors both completed by scale personnel and Shipping/Inventory.
  • Facilitate strategic plan for designated logistics operations – this includes forward-looking strategy for internal CMC fleet as well as supporting portfolio of owner-operators, dedicated contract haulers, and third-party contract haulers
  • Lead Operational Excellence: ensure products are safely and efficiently transported. Manage all freight costs and movements
  • Drive high-level fleet utilization by leading team to support backhauls (both internal and external/freight-for-hire)
  • Leverage relationships with truck and fleet vendors to secure best available rates
  • Maintain coordination across geographic divisions and lines of business to support operational excellence
  • Lead Commercial Excellence: work with Sales and Operations teams to ensure products are delivered on-time. Guide team to maintain strong customer service mindset
  • Ensure CMC fleet operates in compliance with DOT regulations and internal CMC standards
  • Oversee process of driver hiring, on-boarding, training, and ongoing performance management
  • Generate and own talent development actions for team and support succession plans for U.S. logistics team
  • Lead daily operations of truck logistics department for Oklahoma Steel Mill, Oklahoma Southern Post (Durant, OK) and CMC Galavabar (Catoosa, OK)
  • Responsible for third-party and owner-operator relationships, internal fleet management, daily logistics coordination/dispatch, and billing/administrative activities. 9 direct reports

What You'll Need

  • Strong knowledge base of logistics and transportation, specifically with truck
  • Demonstrated leadership experience/skillset. Must be able to lead DOT compliance function to a high level of performance.
  • Demonstrated understanding of DOT compliance

  • At least 3 years’ experience in transportation and logistics managing truck movements and relationships with truck vendors
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a supervisor required; to include experience in customer relations and resolving problems and/or disputes
  • Ability to travel

Your Education

  • Bachelor or Associate Degree preferred
