What You'll Do

  • Daily logistics and dispatch functions-assigning and dispatching all freight for two fabrication shops utilizing both CMC fleet and 3rd party carriers
  • Communicate daily with fleet drivers and carriers all expectations pertaining to loading and delivery
  • Act as a primary liaison between the shop, drivers, carriers, along with the consignee as needed with any issues either at the shop or delivery locations
  • Optimizing fleet and carrier usage based on the delivery markets and costs
  • Maintain excellent customer service and foster positive relationships with carriers
  • Ability to determine correct truck / trailer count to cover the shipping volume needed to service customers
  • Driver and asset management
  • Maintain asset files for trucks and trailers
  • SAP maintenance
  • Monitoring compliance with DOT.FMCSA regulations
  • Scheduling truck maintenance as needed working with the location and drivers to avoid service interruptions
  • Problem resolution and monthly DOT driver safety meeting
  • Monitor/coach Drive Cam events
  • Supervise truck maintenance and DOT logs while ensuring that proper equipment is available
  • MWH (Miles without hours) reporting when needed
  • Driver recruitment/onboarding/termination maintenance
  • Support driver well being to maximize productivity and driver retention
  • Maintenance of trailer tracking and associated devices (Power Fleet)
  • Coordinate removal and cancellation of devices taken out of service such as but not limited to drive cam, GPS trackers, ect
  • Assist drivers experiencing mechanical issues and coordinate with appropriate service providers to minimize downtime
  • Work with other CMC locations such as but not limited to mills and fab shops with fleet and 3rd party carriers to maximize utilization and reduce costs
  • Other responsibilities as required

What You'll Need

  • DOT manual compliance and regulations knowledge
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
  • TM software experience is a plus
  • Peoplenet / Drivecam experience
  • Experience with Logistics processes & operations
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities daily
  • Excellent follow up, research and investigational skills
  • Accuracy and accountability are essential
  • Ability to change priorities quickly, work effectively under time constraints, contribute to the team effort and see the big picture
  • Ability to adapt quickly to fluid transportation circumstances
  • Problem resolution and conducting crucial conversations
  • Strong organization and people skills are required

Your Education

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred, but not required. Equivalent experience and skills can be a substituted for education.
