Why This Job

CMC is seeking a Design Engineer for our Forming & Shoring team in our Houston, TX location. The Design Engineer utilizes construction documents, sketches, and/or details provided by the sales department to produce Autocad drawings for a variety of forming and shoring systems. Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager,  the qualified individual will provide their technical expertise to the Sales team and customers to assist in solutions to their construction challenges.  This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys working with a team on creative solutions to design forming and shoring systems for construction projects.

What You'll Do

  • Produce assembly drawings for all assigned projects in accordance with the established company drafting standards
  • Perform minor design checks and static analysis to determine adequacy of forming and/or shoring systems
  • Design temporary foundations for backfill bracing, wind load bracing and one-sided concrete pour applications
  • Produce material take-off and generate shipping lists as required
  • Create and maintain project files in accordance with company standards while adequately documenting design procedures and logistics
  • On-site support for technical guidance and assistance with complex site issues; Including pre-construction meetings with clients

What You'll Need

  • Must be able to read Architectural and Structural Drawings/Specifications
  • AutoCAD, Tekla Structures and Microsoft Office knowledge required
  • Minimum of two years of forming and shoring experience preferred
  • Good problem solving skills is a must
  • Ability to work with other engineers, designers, and detailers
  • Certificate of Engineering in Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) preferred
  • Familiarity with structural analysis software is desirable, but not required
  • Strong understanding of U.S. standards and building codes such as ACI, AISC, NDS, IBC and ASCE

Your Education

  • Bachelors Degree required
  • BSCE or BSME preferred
