Why This Job

Design Engineer utilizes construction documents, sketches, and/or details provided by the sales department to produce Autocad drawings for a variety of forming and shoring systems. Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager, the qualified individual will provide their technical expertise to the Sales team and customers to assist in solutions to their construction challenges. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys working with a team on creative solutions to design forming and shoring systems for construction projects.

What You'll Do

  • Produce Forming and Shoring drawings for all assigned projects in accordance with the established company drafting standards
  • Produce accurate and detailed rebar placing drawings that conform to industry and company standards for various structures; to include the material list for shop fabrication
  • Perform design checks to determine adequacy of forming and/or shoring systems
  • Create and maintain project files in accordance with company standards while adequately documenting design procedures and logistics
  • Performs rebar material takeoffs
  • Willing to learn; enjoys tackling new challenges
  • Is organized and shows attention to detail, with a "get it right the first time" mindset
  • Demonstrates dependability in attendance, work completion, and flexibility to meet business needs
  • Makes timely and sound decisions; uses resources wisely

What You'll Need

  • Minimum of 2 years of forming and shoring experience
  • 1 - 2 years previous experience and/or knowledge with AutoCAD and reading blueprints
  • Professional Engineer license considered a plus
  • Knowledge and experience utilizing today's design and project management tools including AutoCAD and Microsoft project
  • Must be able to learn quickly, multitask and utilize time wisely
  • Must have outstanding communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective relationships across the business and work with all levels in the organization
  • Basic computer skills such as familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required
  • Creative thinking and problem solving abilities

Your Education

  • Bachelors in Civil Engineering Required
