The Receiving Lead is responsible for overseeing all inbound shipments, ensuring accurate receipt of merchandise, maintaining inventory integrity, and leading receiving team members to achieve operational goals. This role ensures products are received, inspected, documented, and processed efficiently while maintaining safety, quality, and Inventory standards.
What You'll Do
- Perform cycle counts to ensure accurate inventory
- Lead and supervise daily receiving operations and receiving team members
- Coordinate unloading, inspection, and verification of inbound shipments
- Ensure all products are received accurately against purchase orders, packing slips, and system records
- Inventory control processes related to damaged merchandise and shop-use products, ensuring accurate documentation, disposition, and inventory adjustments
- Perform cycle count process weekly in designated areas of the facility and inventory reconciliation activities
- Manage the cataloging and tracking of non-stock materials received through purchase orders, maintaining accurate records and inventory visibility
- Coordinate the preparation, inspection, and processing of qualifying non-stock and excess materials for resale opportunities
- Investigate and resolve shipment discrepancies, shortages, overages, and damages
- Maintain inventory accuracy through proper receiving procedures and system transactions
- Monitor workflow and assign tasks to ensure timely processing of incoming freight
- Train, coach, and develop receiving associates on procedures, safety practices, and performance expectations
- Ensure compliance with company policies, warehouse procedures, and safety regulations
- Collaborate with Operations, Inventory Control, Transportation, and Vendor Management teams to resolve issues
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe receiving area
- Turn in receiving paperwork twice daily to billing/receiving clerk so that inventory is updated in a timely manner
What You'll Need
- 2 years experience in shipping and receiving in warehouse or manufacturing environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively while giving and receiving feedback
- Ability to operate a forklift
- Ability to carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs
- Ability to work in uncontrolled climate environment and in the elements
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time, stretch, bend and use hands and fingers in repetitive motions
Your Education
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Bachelor's Degree preferred, but not required. Equivalent experience and skills can be a substituted for education.
