What You'll Do

  • Partner with CMC’s business leaders and management teams to lead the on-road safety and regulatory program to best-in-class performance
  • Lead a team of DOT Compliance Specialists and Office of Records personnel (fleet administration)
  • Ensure that CMC’s fleet operates in compliance with federal and state regulations
  • Own CMC’s trucking safety and compliance policy manual (the “Rules of the Road”) and lead the evolution of on-road safety policies
  • Coordinate with driver supervisors and logistics/operations leaders to execute strategies to build/maintain a culture of safety throughout all aspects of on-road transportation operations
  • Stay abreast of and leverage emerging technologies and industry best practices for over-the-road risk management and mitigation
  • Manage driver qualification program and lead strategy to maintain driver records and adherence to ELD regulations
  • Strategically manage CMC’s DOT Authority strategy
  • Actively monitor and drive strategy for FMCSA/ISS requirements to support business operations
  • Lead Office of Records strategy for fleet administration, including, but not limited to
  • Records for all owned/leased mobile equipment (e.g. titles, registrations, plates)
  • Administration of tolls, fuel cards, fuel card reconciliation, and IFTA fuel tax
  • Support operations with ELD accounts, insurance certificates, and UCR administration
  • Records/support for asset acquisitions, transfers, and disposals (sales, retirements, and off-lease returns)
  • Coordinate the accident investigation and response process; guide business leadership through post-incident closeout

What You'll Need

  • Strong knowledge base with federal and state on-road regulatory requirements (e.g. FMCSA, UCR, ELD, and state compliance standards)
  • Demonstrated leadership experience/skillset. Must be able to lead DOT compliance function to a high level of performance.
  • Strategic perspective/vision to lead DOT compliance function and recommend, develop, and implement new/updated policies, systems, and procedures
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships
  • Ability to drive results through collaboration and influence
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail

Your Education

  • At least 5 years’ experience with DOT and FMCSA management and compliance required
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in fleet safety management with direct DOT compliance responsibility, preferably supporting a fleet of at least 500 trucks.
  • Alternatively, a minimum of 8 years’ experience in truck transportation management or fleet management with solid DOT and fleet compliance understanding.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ leadership experience managing teams of 5+ or more employees.
  • Bachelor's Degree strongly preferred
  • Ability to travel up to 30% of time, domestically
