Why This Job

The National Accounts Director - EPCs will lead CMC's enterprise account strategy for assigned EPC customers and engineering-led project delivery organizations. The role is focused on engaging early in project development, understanding customer requirements before scopes and specifications are finalized, and coordinating CMC resources to support complex industrial, infrastructure, energy, manufacturing, and large-scale construction opportunities.

This role is part of CMC's Early Stage Construction growth effort. It helps CMC connect technical, commercial, operational, and supply chain capabilities earlier in the project lifecycle so the company can better qualify opportunities, support customer planning, and compete for work where CMC can create differentiated value.

What You'll Do

  • Serve as the primary relationship manager for strategic EPC customers involved in major construction projects across the U.S
  • Build relationships across engineering, procurement, construction, estimating, project controls, supply chain, site leadership, and executive stakeholders
  • Develop account plans that define customer priorities, capital project pipeline, relationship coverage, technical needs, risk areas, and growth opportunities
  • Coordinate CMC executive, technical, commercial, operations, and supply chain engagement to support customer needs at the right stage of project development
  • Position CMC as a coordinated enterprise partner for complex projects, not only as an individual product supplier
  • Identify early-stage EPC opportunities before material needs, specifications, supply plans, and bid packages are fully defined
  • Qualify opportunities using CMC's Ideal Project Profile, focusing on margin-aligned work, multi-product potential, project fit, and execution feasibility
  • Partner with Technical Services to support constructability input, specification review, value engineering, product fit, and customer education where needed
  • Coordinate internal project reviews to assess project stage, customer decision process, scope opportunity, technical requirements, supply constraints, operational fit, and bid readiness
  • Help translate customer requirements into clear internal actions for commercial, operations, technical services, product, and supply chain teams
  • Promote multi-product and solution-based opportunities across CMC's portfolio where it creates value for the EPC and aligns with CMC priorities
  • Identify product adjacencies, technical synergies, and service opportunities that can improve CMC's relevance on large, complex projects
  • Support business case development with customer insight, project context, scope potential, competitive dynamics, and execution considerations
  • Work across CMC business lines to improve account coordination, reduce handoff friction, and support a more integrated customer experience
  • Share EPC customer insights, capital project trends, procurement behaviors, engineering requirements, competitor activity, and project risks with business leaders
  • Deliver monthly account updates covering project pipeline, project stage, relationship progress, risks, commercial needs, and required internal support
  • Create feedback loops from EPC engagement into CMC's Early-Stage Construction operating model, commercial strategy, technical services priorities, and product adjacency evaluation
  • Use Salesforce to manage customer interactions, update projects, and assign actions across internal teams
  • Maintain accurate customer information and ensure all communications and activities are logged
  • Lead regular project review meetings with leadership to assess construction progress and resolve field challenges
  • Ensure coordinated internal support to reduce delays and rework
  • Conduct periodic business reviews to understand client strategy, pipeline, and where CMC can align to bring value and differentiation as a true partner
  • Monitor client engagement levels and satisfaction and implement strategies to deepen relationships and improve account traction and future project collaboration
  • Provide guidance and leadership to internal account teams and cross-functional contributors
  • Serve as a remote contributor, supporting fabrication operations and enterprise initiatives
  • Travel extensively to fabrication sites and partner locations to oversee project execution and ensure alignment with corporate goals

What You'll Need

  • Minimum 5 years’ business development experience in a related service industry or successful track record as an account manager (for internal candidates)
  • Proven experience in strategic sales, national accounts, EPC engagement, business development, project development, technical-commercial account management, or major project pursuit within construction, industrial, infrastructure, or related markets
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex enterprise accounts with multiple stakeholders across engineering, procurement, construction, supply chain, and executive leadership
  • Strong understanding of EPC project development, procurement cycles, engineering milestones, bid package development, project execution handoffs, and large project risk considerations
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to present to executives and cross-functional teams
  • Experience navigating complex decision-making environments and understanding large project milestones
  • Proficiency in Salesforce or similar CRM platforms
  • Ability to travel up to 80%

Your Education

  • B.S./B.A. degree in related discipline or management-related field from an accredited university required
  • Masters in business administration or marketing or sales with accompanying experience, from an accredited university preferred
