What You'll Do

  • Monitor shop performance and processes daily for operation within established parameters
  • Investigate and recommend process, procedure, training or equipment needs to continually improve performance
  • Work with Quality Assurance Department to monitor product quality and identify and correct any deviations
  • Responsible for process stabilization and improvement in all shop areas
  • Focus on raw materials, electric arc furnace (EAF), ladle furnace, caster, and refractory performance
  • Train new employees, lead corrective actions, monitor shop parameters, and implement process changes as necessary
  • Collaborate with maintenance and engineering on capital projects and commissioning of new equipment

What You'll Need

  • 2+ years’ experience working with the Melt Shop process preferred
  • Able to communicate, verbally and written, with operators, supervisors, maintenance, suppliers, management, and plant support staff
  • Highly technical, detail oriented, organized and self-starter
  • Able to work independently, take initiative and drive for results with minimal supervision
  • Willingness and ability to work hands-on in the shop with operators on flexible schedules
  • Willing to learn; enjoys tackling new challenges
  • Ability to work with exposure to extreme temperatures, chemicals, dust fumes and mists, uneven surfaces, loud noise, elevated work areas, and confined spaces

Your Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy, Engineering or a related field preferred
