Essential Functions and Responsibilities

-Wear proper PPE at all times
-Work safely to prevent on the job injuries by following company guidelines and procedures
-Work with liquid process personnel in the operation, monitoring, and performance of all casting equipment
-Communicate with fellow workers and supervisors about possible production issues, concerns, and needs
-Connect Hydraulic hoses and operate the slide gate system to begin casting
-Safe and continuous monitoring of ladle casting at all times
-Visually check ladle to make sure steel is pouring correctly and properly
-Use temperature probes to monitor steel temperature in tundish
-Use oxygen lance to lance open ladle when needed
-Check the mold for slag and take corrective action when needed
-Perform housekeeping and keep casting area clean
-Perform spray chamber maintenance as needed
-Prepare spare tundish for casting (preheat)
-Take tundish chemistry sample for every heat to verify chemistry
-Set up casting machine prior to start up
-Start up and shut down casting process when needed
-Change mold when needed

This position will require cross-training between the Furnace Operator, Ladle Furnace Operator and Caster Technician and understanding of the duties in each position.

Experience and Qualifications

Basic computer skills
Work on a rotating shift which may include nights, weekends, and holidays
Some overtime will be required through our “Mandatory Overtime Program”

Must be able to lift 50lbs
Ability to work as a team player in a fast paced environment, with an excellent work ethic, attention to detail, and organizational skills
Must be able to learn quickly and multitask
Ability to work in extreme heat
Trouble shooting and good communication skills
Ability to train others
Ability to operate overhead crane

Your Education

  • High School Diploma or GED required
