Why This Job
Partner with Divisional Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer to provide business analytics that drive business results in support of short- and long-term value creation. Deliver analysis as part of the North America finance/accounting organization and the Divisional leadership teams, linking financial results to operational performance drivers. Lead a team of operating unit Financial Analysts, providing valuable decision support and driving business success. As a key member of the finance organization at CMC, participate in entity-wide projects.
What You'll Do
- Provide decision support via financial modeling, business case analysis and financial / management reporting to influence performance of business
- Oversee month-end close as it pertains to financial reporting
- Gather, compile, analyze, prepare, and summarize data for complex financial projects / subjects such as planning, formulating, and conducting financial studies to define performance plans for short and long-range business segment goals
- Ensure policies and practices are US GAAP compliant
- Assist with the integration of acquired companies and due diligence as needed
- Assist with compiling, analyzing, and reporting financial data in accordance with US GAAP
- Evaluate financial implications of specific business decisions / opportunities and advise management accordingly to ensure targeted financial performance achievement
- Exercise judgment to determine appropriate course of action and prepare business recommendations
- Participate in the development of strategic and operational objectives for the Division that are aligned to CMC North America and Corporate strategic objectives
- Translate the strategic and operational plans of the business into communications to a broad-based audience including the Divisional leadership team, CMC Corporate leadership, and sometimes Board of Directors
- Lead the financial planning and forecasting processes for the operating unit
- Lead annual capital planning program to direct company funds to projects with the most attractive returns for the Division and CMC
- Provide in-depth analysis on variances to plan and forecast
- Provide insightful and competitive analytics that anticipate change and drive decision making
- Apply external perspective and maintain knowledge of the segment’s competitive environment, market conditions, customers, and profit drivers
- Provide effective and timely financial information, thoughtful business insights / analytics and business performance evaluations to ensure that Divisional leaders are effective in creating and executing the business segment’s strategy and operating plan
- Work with Corporate Finance, Directors of Accounting, and Financial Analysts to ensure effective, consistent, and efficient system of internal controls including; data integrity, asset protection, budgeting, financial reporting, and information systems
- Maintain a clear tone regarding business conduct, ethics, the law, and financial controls
What You'll Need
- 10+ years experience in manufacturing or similar businesses
- SAP experience strongly preferred
- Proven ability to influence Operations to drive business success
- Ability to navigate in a matrixed organization
- Knowledge of and experience applying US GAAP
- Deep curiosity of profit drivers and ability to use financial systems to mine data to conduct financial analysis
- Strong financial background including experience with planning, forecasting and integrated financial analysis
- Knowledge and background working with financial systems including installation and upgrades
- Ability to lead a team of Financial Analysts and drive their efforts to similarly influence supported operations
Your Education
- Business degree or relevant financial experience in business operations
- MBA, CPA or CMA preferred
