What You'll Do

  • Facilitate strategic plan for designated logistics operations – this includes forward-looking strategy for internal CMC fleet as well as supporting portfolio of owner-operators, dedicated contract haulers, and third-party contract haulers
  • Coordinates repairs and preventative maintenance scheduling that support fleet vehicle availability requirements
  • Maintain fleet records (electronic and paper) including but not limited to titles, registration, and lease status
  • Engage and manage relationships with fleet services providers (repairs/maintenance, taxes, etc.).
  • Ensure CMC fleet operates in compliance with DOT regulations and internal CMC standards
  • Inspect fleet equipment and review equipment maintenance for roadworthiness and compliance with DOT, state, and CMC policies
  • Own and maintain relationships with fleet services providers (repairs/maintenance, taxes, etc.). Outline requirements and expectations and drive vendor performance and position CMC to derive maximum benefit from these relationships.
  • Utilize the SAP Maintenance Module to document maintenance activities, record corrective actions, order replacement parts, and account for time spent on tasks.
  • Assist drivers experiencing mechanical issues and coordinate with appropriate service provider to minimize downtime
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in freight negotiations, warehouse operations, transportation and planning, carrier performance management and international freight management and logistics.
  • Audit fleet records to validate complete and current records including taking corrective actions where needed
  • Identify and assess compliance issues; collect, review, analyze, test, and verify compliance related evidence

What You'll Need

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Passion for customer service.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ leadership experience managing teams of 5+ or more employees. Experience managing remote staff a benefit
  • Advanced level negotiation skills
  • SAP experience a plus
  • DOT Manual compliance and regulations knowledge
  • Demonstrated leadership experience/skillset. Must be able to lead DOT compliance function to a high level of performance.
  • High integrity and strength of character and professional presence
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment with competing priorities and new demands
  • Working knowledge of logistics and supply chain activities
  • High School Diploma or GED required
