Central Purpose of Job

This individual monitors the cooling bed and bundle tying equipment while focusing on safety, quality products, and efficient operation. The individual is responsible for bundle integrity, verification of length control, and bar quality while providing feedback to the pulpit operator and mill supervisor of equipment conditions and areas of improvement.

What You'll Do

  • Maintain a safety-first attitude.
  • Know at all times current condition of bar going on bed, know physicals, and their relation to speed and QTB.
  • Plan for wire/banding changes, length changes, repairs etc. during any down time.
  • Plan and participate in any maintenance items and changeovers in merchant area including routine operational tasks.
  • What stands or passes are ready to be changed at next opportunity, and be prepared to do so. Downtime of any sort can come at a moment’s notice, take advantage of it when you can.
  • Adhere to CMC steel AZ safety policies and procedures.
  • Work rotating shift which includes weekends and holidays.
  • Maintain a continuous focus on cost and ways to decrease cost.
  • Maintain a clean work area.

What You'll Need

  • Ability to work as a team player in a fast-paced environment, with excellent strong work ethic, attention to detail, and organizational skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Dependability in attendance, work completion, and flexibility to meet business needs
  • Must be able to learn quickly and multitask
  • Ability to work with exposure to extremes in temperature, chemical, dust fumes and mists, uneven surfaces, loud noise, elevated work areas, and confined spaces
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Work on a rotating shift which may include weekends and holidays
  • Some overtime will be required

Education and Knowledge Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to recall specifics, methods, and processes.
  • Comprehend and apply analyzed procedures.

Skill Requirements

  • Operate fork lifts and overhead cranes safely and fluently.
  • Operate a computer fluently (outlook, excel, word, etc.)
  • Use of all measuring devices (tapes, micrometer, inside outside calipers, etc.)
  • Must be able to multi task and follow through with task and direction given.

Behavior Requirements

  • Must be able to work well with others and create a team atmosphere starting with safety.
  • Must be able to follow instructions given by supervisor or manager in timely and safe manner.
  • Must be respectful to others.
  • Must be responsible and dependable.
