What You'll Do
- Verifies purchase requisitions by confirming specifications to understand internal customer requirements and sourcing supplies and services through preferred or best alternative suppliers
- Manage, control, and reduce material costs through proactive measures with key suppliers, customers, technical/quality, and operations
- Create, monitor, and adjust inventory levels in relation to strategic planning, order volume and sales history
- Demonstrate ownership of how material will be applied to sales orders
- Responsible for procurement activities on: Raw Materials, Services, MRO
- Manage and develop supplier relationships
- Plan for and achieve the lowest inbound freight costs possible
- Evaluate and negotiate with potential suppliers based on their product quality, cost, delivery times, payment terms and customer service
- Obtains requirements by verifying, preparing, and forwarding purchase orders to suppliers; monitoring and expediting orders, as needed
- Ensure goods receipts are processed timely; verify and authorize payment of invoices or coordinate return of defective/incorrect merchandise
- Contribute to Supply Chain goals including cost reduction targets and increased spend under management through the utilization of Preferred Supplier contracts and new sourcing opportunities
- Track and report key functional metrics tracking overall cost reduction. Benchmarks, KPIs, and other data analytics will be used in order to meet or exceed departmental cost benefit goals, objectives, and spend measurements
What You'll Need
- Understanding of sales & operations planning; demand planning, master scheduling, and sequencing
- Understanding of inventory control systems, policies, and procedures.
- Understand creation of metrics for analysis and benchmarking
- Understand how to effectively manage supplier quality
- Must be a team player, open to working closely with others
- Understanding of business needs/operations
- Knowledge of purchasing procedures
- Negotiation skills
- Make accurate and timely decisions
- Judgment - Identifies/evaluates issues at hand
- Must be a self-starter; flexible, customer-focused, and have a professional demeanor
- 2+ years purchasing experience, preferred
