Why This Job

Commercial Metals Company is currently seeking a Material Handler. As part of the CMC team, Material Handlers support the initiative of providing strong customer service in a timely, professional and courteous manner. CMC's Material Handlers are responsible for the loading and unloading of products to customers and contractors while adhering to all company, state and federal regulations. This is an hourly position with a work schedule of Monday - Friday, some Saturdays and overtime can be expected to accommodate business needs. This position is located in Round Rock.

What You'll Do
  • Assemble customer orders from stock and place on pallets, shelves, or relocate orders to a holding area or shipping department
  • Assist shipping and receiving by unloading trucks, checking in merchandise, matching purchase orders to sales orders and distributing to sales associates for processing
  • File requisitions, work orders, requests for materials, or tools and other stock items to distribute items to shipping or designated route driver storage area
  • Move materials and items from receiving and/or storage areas to shipping or other designated areas
  • Read customer orders, work orders, shipping orders or requisitions to determine items to be moved, gathered, distributed and/or shipped
  • Record amounts of materials or items received or distributed via appropriate computer program
  • Sort and place materials and items on racks, shelves or bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color or product code
  • Weigh and count items for distribution within plant to ensure conformance to company standards
  • Mark materials with identifying information using appropriate method
  • Assist in counting of physical inventory
  • Participates in the CMC Safety Programs and proactively upholds the CMC Safety Culture
  • Any other tasks as assigned by supervisor
What You'll Need
  • Must be able to work outside under all weather conditions to include working in the heat and cold weather
  • Ability to stand for duration of shift; frequent physical activity such as walking, climbing stairs or reaching to work with equipment throughout the entire shift
  • Must be able to work overtime, either planned or unplanned for emergency situations
  • Minimum 1 year working with heavy industrial environment experience preferred but not required
  • Able to work as a team player in a fast-paced environment, with strong multitasking abilities, attention to detail, and organizational skills
  • Must possess work ethic and ability to be punctual
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Your Education
  • High School Diploma or GED required
