What You'll Do

  • Oversee environmental compliance activities for steel mills, recycling yards, rebar fabrication plants, precast facilities, and other CMC industrial operations
  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of divisional environmental programs, systems, and procedures, aligned with centralized corporate standards
  • Provide direction, coaching, and performance leadership to Area Environmental Managers responsible for site-level program execution
  • Foster a culture of environmental excellence, operational compliance, innovation, and proactive risk reduction across all facilities
  • Manage and guide standardization, rule change integration, and continuous improvement related to major environmental regulatory programs, including but not limited to CAA, RCRA, CWA, EPCRA, and TSCA
  • Oversee divisional environmental data collection processes, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and quality of reporting to internal and external stakeholders
  • Evaluate proposed regulations and guidance, determine operational impact, support advocacy where appropriate, and coordinate implementation across affected facilities
  • Support divisional compliance audit programs, corrective action implementation, and recurring verification activities
  • Support Sustainability Manager and corporate teams to implement ESG initiatives, environmental data integrity, and progress toward short- and long-term sustainability goals
  • Build strong relationships with operations leadership, engineering, safety, maintenance, legal, and other key functional partners to integrate environmental considerations into business decisions
  • Represent the division in engagement with trade organizations and participate in rulemaking, benchmarking, and legislative discussions supportive of company initiatives
  • Identify, engage, and manage consultants, contractors, and other external resources as needed
  • Lead and execute major divisional environmental projects and strategic initiatives, utilizing strong project management skills in cross functional and multi business unit environments
  • Support M&A environmental due diligence, transition planning, and integration activities for new acquisitions

What You'll Need

  • 10+ years of progressive environmental experience in industrial operations, with at least 5 years in heavy industry (steel, recycling, manufacturing, mining, or similar)
  • Demonstrated experience managing environmental compliance programs across multiple facilities
  • Proven project management experience with the ability to lead cross functional initiatives and drive execution of long-term environmental programs
  • Strong data management, analytical, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to distill complex information into actionable insights
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced industrial environment
  • 5+ years of management experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient in MS Office 365 Suite, including SharePoint, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and Teams, and other related applications
  • Ability to travel up to 25%, with occasional overnight travel

Your Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies, Environmental Science, Engineering, Geology, Biology, or a related field is required
