What You'll Do
- Cross train through the Engineering department
- Presentation/Report on an improvement project at the end of internship
- Collaborate with engineers and contractors, and oversee technology development, including budgets and resource planning
- Interact with technical engineers and non-technical operations personnel to integrate new technologies and update existing systems
- Assist & develop improvements in documentation control systems
- Responsible for the design, construction, commissioning, and startup activities of capital projects
- Responsible for system upgrades in electrical power generation, distribution systems, low voltage, and electrical machinery
- Apply National Electrical Code (NEC) in industrial facilities
- Assist with well hook-up of medium voltage electrical system, installation, start-up and commissioning including overcurrent protection design, implementation and testing
- Work with the design teams to deliver seamless project construction work packages
- Perform detailed analysis including short circuit, arc flash, and load flow evaluations for areas within the plant
- Integrate control systems and machine interface development
- Participate in the CMC Safety Programs and proactively uphold the CMC Safety Culture
What You'll Need
- Excellent quantitative and analytical skills with an aptitude of problem solving
- Must be able to read and interpret electrical prints and diagrams
- Must be able to read and interpret mechanical prints and diagrams
- Able to work independently, take initiative and drive for results with minimal supervision
- Basic knowledge of computers and MS Office programs – Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint; Proficient with AutoCAD 2016 or later
- Ability to interact with coworkers and customers in a positive manner, follow directions and work rules and accept constructive feedback required
- Strong communication skills required. Must read, speak, and understand English language in verbal and written communication.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, push, pull, lift, kneel, squat, crawl and reach
- Work in varying temperature and weather conditions
- Able to work a flexible schedule to include 40 hour work weeks during summer (June-August)
- Ability to work with exposure to extremes in temperature, chemical, dust fumes and mists, uneven surfaces, loud noise, elevated work areas, and confined spaces
- Push and pull up to 90 lbs. and carry 50 lbs
- Previous internship experiences preferred
- Experience working in an industrial environment preferred
Your Education
- Currently enrolled in an Electrical Engineering or similar field (Junior/Senior level preferred)
