What You'll Do

  • Learn about the steel making processes at the facility including raw materials, energy, intermediate products, and final products
  • Learn about the sources and quality of data from our manufacturing processes, business process, online sales, sales lead tracking system, and ERP system
  • Collect operating data from the manufacturing processes including the shredder, melt shop, and rolling mill
  • Develop material and energy balances as a tool for understanding the processes
  • Combine your new understanding of the processes, material, and energy balances in one or more optimization / improvement projects
  • Participate in the CMC Safety Programs and proactively uphold the CMC Safety Culture

What You'll Need

  • Must be working toward a degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
  • Able to work a flexible schedule to include 40 hour work weeks during summer (June-August)
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task, and prioritize
  • Strong computer skills
  • Demonstrates dependability in attendance, work completions, and flexibility to meet business needs
  • Strong communication skills required. Must read, speak and understand English language in verbal and written communication

Your Education

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Must be actively enrolled in an accredited university program pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field at time of internship (Junior level or higher preferred)
